Ah, moving. After 7-ish years of being in the Mission District here in San Francisco, I'm moving to a house with a backyard, a lemon tree, bamboo, and windows that open. Things are in boxes, moving to boxes, most of the bills have been transferred. And I bought an East Bay map to get to know the terrain a bit better. Some other good things: the new place is near BART, between CAC and UC-Berkeley, and right near the freeway (for those auto moments). There isn't a Starbucks in the new hood, and a pub is right around the corner (hopefully it doesn't have 4 TVs). Plus there's a back deck, a palm tree shading it, storage space, and no more loud street noises (I currently live on a four-lane road). See you all late May for Year Three of this site (Year Five if you count the older version.) Now its back to the boxes.:::04.04
Well, I'm finally settled in to the new house. We've finally unloaded all of the boxes and can put up the pictures with one more push. I'm borrowing a truck tomorrow to dump the last remnants of unpacking and trashing stuff. Routines are smoothing out, things are finding their place. The yard needs attention, but I pick lemons and berries regularly. Used a piece of bamboo for a flag pole during the Fourth (to hang my pirate flag). Ah, the banalities of life. Where would normalcy be without them? Ah, the sufferings of a renter, an artist, an extended family that needs caring and support. I find deep pleasure in picking those backyard lemons, and then making lemonade with them. Or a smoothy. Simple things, deep in meaning resonating with the sap of the universe.:::07.04
